MOSS BALL CARE
CONGRATULATIONS ON ADOPTING YOUR OWN MOSS BALL!

SO NOW WHAT?
CARING FOR YOUR NEW MARIMO MOSS BALL IS EASY! IT REQUIRES NO FOOD, LITTLE LIGHT, AND A WATER CHANGE EVERY ONCE IN AWHILE.

Moss Balls require on two things: water and very minimal light. Moss Balls are a form of algae, so the only feeding it requires is a light source so it can feed through photosynthesis.
LIGHTING
Moss balls originally form in lake beds, so a nice cool, dimly lit environment is best. Keep it out of direct sunlight.

WATER

Change the water in your moss jar everyone one or two weeks. Tap water is just fine! If you'd like, squeeze your moss ball before putting it back into the jar to get out excess debris. You can roll it around in your hand to ensure it maintains it's spherical shape.

HOW LONG WILL MY MOSS BALL LIVE?

Marimo moss balls grow only 5cm/year. If taken care of your moss ball will probably outlive you. The oldest one on record is about 200 years old! There's no need to take your moss ball out of its original jar unless you desire to do so!
